Newtown State School and its community have a long tradition of commemorating war service and sacrifice and the ANZAC Spirit.

The Lone Pine planting on 21st April, 2005, indicative of their tradition and observance of ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, involving the students, staff and the local RSL.
The Lone Pine has pride of place,
fronting the Albert Street fence line.


Nearby, as you enter the school, is their impressive monument, commemorating past students who served during World War II.
