    The Mount Barker Memorial tree planting was intended to commemorate the local people who served in World War One. This may be located on Mann Street near the Bowling Green in Mount Barker, South Australia.

    On the 10th of October 1918 the decision was made to plant an avenue of trees at Mount Barker as a memorial to the local people who served in World War One. Mr T.E.     In a newspaper article from August 1918 the ‘memorial tree planting’ was mentioned and it stated that a particular location had not yet been decided upon but that planting of 70 English Oaks had already commenced near the bowling green and heading towards the showground. It was intended to have a tablet inscribed with the names of the soldiers from the district.
