The Wallaroo Soldiers’ Memorial Avenue on Alford Road was established on Saturday 5 August 1944. This was located on Alford Road, Wallaroo, in South Australia.

In September 1943, Mr H. A. Wellbey gained Council approval for a tree planting scheme, which would be undertaken by the Wallaroo R.S.A. and Fathers’ Association. “The scheme was the foundation of a Soldiers’ Memorial Avenue, in conjunction with the Wallaroo Hospital tree planting committee, on the Alford road, from Ernest terrace to the boundary of the hospital ground. They would plant 25 Norfolk Island pines, and later would add plaques bearing the names of Wallaroo boys who had made the supreme sacrifice” (1943 ‘WALLAROO COUNCIL.’, The Kadina and Wallaroo Times (SA : 1888 – 1954), 3 September, p. 4. , viewed 10 Dec 2019, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article124792093). The 25 trees were planted on Saturday, 5th of August 1944.

The Advertiser newspaper reported that on the 10th of February 1953 several Norfolk Island pines in the Soldiers’ Memorial Avenue on Alford Road were destroyed by a fire which started near the hospital.
