The Nurses Memorial is one of two established in Perth (the other at Kings Park) to commemorate the service, suffering and sacrifice related to the Vyner Brooke tragedy during WW2. A small pond and garden surround, provides the backdrop to this memorial, in the Point Walter Reserve at Bicton.
Nestled within a curved metal-clad wall, is a small granite column bearing a bronze plaque. This focal feature is further surrounded by a grove of twenty one memorial trees, each with a plaque at the base, signifying the names of the nurses on the ill-fated voyage of the SS Vyner Brooke.
