The Kings Park’s Honour Avenues are dedicated to over 1800 servicemen and women who died during war service and a full list of the individuals’ names and service information can be found on the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority database. This Avenue of Honour is located May Drive and Lovekin Drive West Perth, in Western Australia.
“The first Honour Avenue was dedicated to 404 fallen soldiers in August 1919 on the fifth anniversary of the outbreak of World War I. Kings Park now has three tree-lined avenues set aside to honour service personnel who died in the two World Wars and other engagements” (https://www.bgpa.wa.gov.au/kings-park/visit/history/honour-avenues).
The newspaper,The Kadina and Wallaroo Times, reported on 21 October 1931 that on either side of the road within King’s Park are trees, planted at regular intervals, in memory of each fallen soldier in the Great War. At the foot of each tree is a metal plate, staked in the ground, on which is embossed the rank, name, etc., of the fallen soldier to whose memory the tree was planted” (viewed 30 Apr 2020, http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article110514787).
